Well I guess im getting better at the polishing techniques i was wondering what you guys have to say about this. Who has great tips for wheel refinishing?
These are a set of SSR formula mesh 3 piece welded at the barrel +20 front and +10 rear.
used a rubber mallet to pop off the face. Hand polished the lip/barrel by hand.
Began by using 220 grit sand paper
my way up to 400 wet sanding
then 600 wet sanding
then 1000 grit wet sanding
2000 grit wet sanding with polishing compound and ended off with micro fiber cloth with polishing compound and light buff.
The face was painted first then sanded down and polished with mothers mag and aluminum polish leaving the windows white and face polished.
Took a total of 2 weeks done be hand. This and some help from my homie DA408.
Here is my current set of wheels wedsport autobahn mesh 15x7 offset. Got the set of wheels 3 clean with light rash and 1 wheel with bent lip and curbed to the max. Just took these wheels off my car to get them refinished because its a rare set to find and 4x100 wheels are always something to keep.
Wheel techniques repaired the rashed wheels and refinished all the lips and repaired the one bent wheel and curb.
Since i was able to get a nice hook up from the guys at SIC industries i decided to get the rims bead blasted so i can resand down the faces to a mirror polish.
Starting with 220 grit sand paper at the faces and lips. Since the guys used a bead blaster im going to sand for a good while by hand to remove the little indents on the face and lip. Since polishing is based on the prep of the wheel ill have to take good care in prep so that the final steps of polishing go easier.
I decided to get wetsand paper from 220grit all the way to 2000grit because this kind of job is messy.
So i resanded down the rim with wet sand 220grit
Then wetsanded is 320 grit
440 grit
600 grit
800 grit
and went up to 1500 grit
more pics later tonight

Ahhhh I'm polishing out my 3piece sprint hart R's I'm not going to lie it's a lot of work especially when you want them to have a mirror finish. To mirror finish I used a microfiber pad.
